Parkville Terrace
Nestled within a lovingly restored Parkville terrace, this kitchen renovation was a study in balancing heritage charm with timeless, considered design. Seasoned renovators with an eye for quality, the owners sought a space that would honour the historic character of the home while expressing a bold sense of individuality and endure for generations to come.

Design Direction
The brief was clear: reimagine a historic terrace house, formerly a long-term rental, with a classic, showstopper kitchen that remains sympathetic to the building’s heritage. The owners wanted a timeless family space that commands attention without competing with its surroundings.
Key design priorities:
- Timeless aesthetic rooted in the character of the heritage building
- Every element is selected for both visual impact and long-term durability
- A result that feels considered and confident, built to serve the family for decades
Materials & Finishes
The Mocha Oak cabinetry forms the rich, grounding base of this kitchen. Its deep, chocolatey warmth lends a sense of timelessness to the space and pays quiet tribute to the heritage of the building. Glass-fronted cabinets introduce an element of openness, allowing cherished objects to be displayed and creating a seamless visual flow between the kitchen and dining areas.
The true showstopper is the Super White slab benchtop, with its sweeping curved feature edge welcoming you into the room and drawing the eye immediately. Lighter and more luminous than the cabinetry it contrasts with, the stone anchors the kitchen as the centrepiece of the home, reinforcing its importance as both a functional and social heart of the household.
Design Challenges & Solutions
Maximising every centimetre of the available footprint was essential in this heritage layout. A double row of wall units dramatically increased overhead storage capacity, while thoughtfully sloping the upper cabinetry in line with the staircase allowed the design to make full use of what would otherwise have been dead space.
Smart pantry solutions, including a pull-out drawer unit and a tandem pull-out pantry, further elevated functionality within the compact floor plan, ensuring the kitchen performs as beautifully as it looks.
The Result
The finished kitchen pays genuine homage to this beautiful Parkville terrace, breathing new life into a property that had long been waiting for its moment. What was once a neglected rental has been transformed into a much-loved family home, and the kitchen sits proudly at its heart. Timeless in material, considered in detail, and built to last, this design ensures the terrace will be enjoyed and admired for many years to come.
