Pink Kitchen

After purchasing a beautiful heritage house, the client asked for a showstopping, colourful kitchen. The design team and owner settled on a pink palette, with a striking stone introduced as the final element that brought the concept to life. As the kitchen was designed for a family, making full use of every available space was critical, achieved through smart pantry solutions and generous drawer storage. Working within the existing floor plan and around the home’s architectural features, a coffee nook was integrated into the old fireplace, giving the layout an intentional feel tailored to the home.

The star of the design is the Rosso Trentino stone. Its earthy tones bring genuine warmth to the space, while a waterfall end adds a sense of opulence. The 30mm profile doors in deep pink allow the kitchen to sit comfortably within the heritage structure while maintaining a contemporary feel. This colour palette echoes throughout the rest of the house, tying in with hints found in the entrance’s stained glass.

Creating a feature kitchen within a tight, existing floor plan and around historic architectural elements presented a significant challenge. To ensure no space was wasted, the old fireplace was reimagined as a coffee nook, and the adjacent space was used for a pantry and broom cupboard. Open shelving, pull-out tall pantries and large drawer units delivered ample storage, while integrated appliances helped streamline the layout without overcrowding the space.

This project was rewarding to watch progress from design through to installation. The result is a warm, bold aesthetic that remains highly functional, with all the storage a busy family needs. The owners embraced a courageous design and colour choice, and the finished space is one they will enjoy for years to come.
